Growing Conditions

A cooler and wetter than average season due to an extended La Nina pattern provided a challenging growing season for all, yet the best vineyards still shone through. With the cooler conditions in Spring, budburst was delayed considerably, combined with substantial rain this proved challenging for many growers and required a change in tactics over the growing season. Good vineyard management saw the Knappstein Vineyards picked starting in early March, with the last grapes harvested in the middle of April. The resulting wines have maintained the quality that Knappstein is known for; refreshing Rieslings with good acidity, and red wines that exude elegance, structure and varietal vibrancy.

Vineyard

Fruit is grown at our Yertabulti Vineyard, which is an elevated site east of the Clare township. A premium site that always displays outstanding intensity and varietal character.
