1878 Transcendence 2021 Shiraz

The wine is both bold and restrained, with traditional and expressive use of oak gently encasing the dark fruit core. Rich and creamy aromas from oak soon give way to the intense concentration of old vine fruit. With an inky, black stained glass, the wine continues with the longevity of fruit being the last impression to leave the palate. This is a wine where fruit, acid and oak interaction evolve in the glass and should be cherished with every mouthful.

Tasting Notes

Only the finest grapes from the old vineyards are selected for their optimal flavour, colour, acid, and tannin. After gentle destemming, the berries and juice are transferred to small open fermenters. Short, regular pump-overs during fermentation extract flavour, colour, and tannin. Our winemakers taste daily to decide the best pressing time. The wine then matures in a mix of new and aged French oak barrels for 16-18 months, ensuring perfect balance, extraction and integration of fruit with oak. The wine is then blended into a stainless steel tank in preparation for bottling.

Growing Conditions

Some good rain events toward the end of winter and into the start of spring provided a good start to the growing season, with soil profiles observed at maximum moisture levels still at the start of November.  Vines put on good strong early growth, with the emergence of inflorescence providing a positive insight of the potential yields
